Our first proposed scheme has been developed and granted planning permission. It offers Kingstone and Herefordshire an exciting and innovative opportunity, because it:

  • enhances the social, economic and environmental sustainability of Kingstone
  • enables Kingstone to accommodate its share of Herefordshire’s housing needs in a well planned, rather than adhoc and piecemeal, way
  • improves the existing community facilities and infrastructure of Kingstone, and provides appropriate new facilitiies to enhance the village
  • achieves a high quality sustainable housing scheme that will be affordable to local people
  • delivers houses that achieve Passivhaus – the most rigorous energy standard in Europe – with heating costs as low as £70 / year for a 3 bed house
  • has been developed through an open and engaging process of consultation with the local community and wider stakeholders
  • has been developed through rigorous pre-application discussions and complies with Herefordshire Council’s detailed technical requirements
  • delivers overtly ‘sustainable development’ within any definition under the National Planning Policy Framework
  • sets a precedent for what Herefordshire Council could deem acceptable as ‘sustainable development’ under the National Planning Policy Framework
  • provides Herefordshire with an exemplar housing scheme that will raise the quality threshold for future housing development in the county
