ArchiHaus has been granted planning approval for 150 houses in Kingstone, south west Herefordshire

We have developed a new approach to housing development, achieving Passivhaus by design, and inspired by the distinctive qualities of traditional Herefordshire buildings and landscape.

Houses are set within a landscape of winding lanes and native hedgerows, swales and wetlands, and generous green community open space with natural play, allotments and traditional orchards.

‘Passivhaus’ reduces heating costs to around £70/year for a 3 bedroom house.

The key to achieving such high standards at the same price as standard housing developers, is our plan to establish a local “House Factory’.

The scheme will create significant new demand for village facilities and businesses and will generate major financial investment for existing and new community facilities. The majority of the 35% socially ‘affordable’ houses on the site will be available as ‘low cost market’ for sale, with priority given to local people in and around the village.

A number of small commercial and live/work units on the site create opportunities for existing or new local businesses.

“We believe that this scheme, one of the most sustainable in the UK, will create many benefits in Kingstone, and offers Herefordshire the opportunity to develop a distinctively local and appropriately rural approach to housing that local people can afford”

We expect good demand for higher quality sustainable houses sold at competitive – and strong interest has already shown from many potential local purchasers.
